Protecting your personal data matters to me. Here you can find out which data this website processes and why.

2. Hosting and Cloudflare

This website runs on a private server in Germany. To make it securely reachable on the internet, I use the service Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Your browser first connects to Cloudflare, which forwards the request in encrypted form to my server and protects the site against attacks. In doing so, Cloudflare processes technical connection data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Data may also be processed in the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and has concluded standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). More information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

3. Access data

When you visit the site, your browser automatically transmits technical information (e.g. IP address, time, page requested, browser type). This data is only used to deliver the page; my server does not keep access logs. To protect the sign-in against password guessing, failed sign-in attempts are stored together with the IP address and deleted after 24 hours at the latest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Contact form

If you send me a message, I store your name, email address and message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR). The message is also forwarded to my email inbox at Google (Gmail). I delete the data once it is no longer needed, at the latest after one year. To prevent abuse, the number of messages per IP address is briefly counted; this counter is deleted after 24 hours.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website only uses technically necessary cookies: a cookie for your language choice, a security cookie (CSRF) for forms and, after signing in, a session cookie. Your light/dark mode choice is stored only in your browser (local storage). There is no tracking, no analytics and no advertising. Fonts are hosted on this server – no data is sent to Google Fonts.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Just send me an email. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
